1 Chronicles 16:29 KJV

[29] Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

There are three words that stand out to me in this passage.

1.) Glory – praise, honor, or distinction extended by common consent.

2.) Worship – the act of showing respect and love for a god especially by praying with other people who believe in the same god : the act of worshipping God or a god

3.) Holiness – the quality or state of being holy

I heard someone say recently that, Worship is the sound of our life.  

To entertain that thought, if Worship is the sound of our life…

We could ask ourself, what have we sounded like to God lately?

I hope that none of us have sounded like this…

– Hey, that’s mine! 

– It’s my turn!

– I was here first!

– That’s not fair!

– That was my idea!

Parents, do any of those statements sound all to familiar?  

When we’re born into this world, it’s all about us.

I don’t think we ever generate a thought that we’re going to journey out on a glory seeking quest.

No, our parents confirm it, that it’s all about us. Our grandparents do a better job in confirming that it’s all about us.

We figure out, hey if I cry they’ll come and pick me up. If I’m hungry they’ll feed me. If I need care and attention, they’ll give it to me. It’s all about us.

– Hey, that’s mine! 

– It’s my turn!

– I was here first!

– that’s not fair

– that was my idea!

You’re stealing my glory. You’re trying to hijack all my glory.

When sin entered the world it brought competition to God in Glory. Man tried to hijack the Glory that only belongs to God. We become very self centered because we’re trying to be in the middle of everything and God didn’t call us to be the center of anything.

Traditionally what ever is in the middle is what’s holding things together and that’s where all of the attention and focus or glory goes. God didn’t call us to be the center.

There is something amazing that should happen in all of our lives.

A very crucial moment in our life when we realize that, it’s not all about us. God begins to reveal to us our purpose and his plan.

It’s not about us, it’s about him… And all glory and honor belongs to him. Because you see when you begin to place glory where it doesn’t belong…

It causes a disturbance in the atmosphere. There is an imbalance, it’s unsettling when glory doesn’t go where it belongs.

Until we get to a place where we purposely decline or don’t crave glory because we understand that it’s not about us and we live a life that brings glory to Him…

Until we get to that place of understanding, life will be hard to make sense of. We are not meant to be the center. And what is missed is there is great reward when what belongs to God like Glory goes to Him.

All GLORY, HONOR and POWER is deserving of only one. And his name is JESUS CHRIST.

 1 Chronicles 29:11 KJV

[11] Thine, O Lord , is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine ; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.

What if your own creation tries to still your glory, A creation that was made in your image. He made himself nothing. Took on the form of a servant. Humbled himself. Was obedient to death. Even death on a cross. The God that can take our very breath away… gives you the choice of freedom.

He died for us. Despite the continued efforts of humanity trying to still his Glory. Have you ever been in a situation where you got special treatment because of who you are or because of someone you know?

They treat you so great because of someone your associated with. Piggy backing off of someone else’s glory. I don’t want to take His Glory.

You know something that piggy backs off of glory that’s not their own? The moon. The moon is a ugly dark and dusty place. Have you ever been to a museum and seen a moon rock? Ugly. The moon reflects the light of the sun.

The earth spins on its axis perfectly so that the sun can reflect off of the moon. If it gets off course the moon won’t reflect light.

It’s Perfectly placed to provide light, heat, etc. out of place everything goes wrong.

The moon receives a lot of glory because of the sun. What would the moon do with out the sun?

We would be in really bad shape if it wasn’t for God. I want to reflect his image and all glory and honor above anything else belongs to God.

If worship is the sound of our life, and you’re interested in making a beautiful sound unto the Lord. BEGIN TO GIVE HIM GLORY, HONOR AND PRAISE.
